Our Musician

Bryce started band this year in Middle School. He started with the trumpet, and enjoyed it. Over the last couple of weeks, he wanted to start playing the Baritone. I guess his band teacher caught wind of this, and last Thursday he came home with a scholarship from the school and a Baritone in hand. He is loving it!

The other night, we were pretty bored. Kyle started a game where the kids dance around then freeze for a picture....ever heard of it?? The kids don't play this very well, they kept waiting to pose, so their dancing was pretty weak. I was a little disappointed, being a danccr back in the day...lol. As time went on, the dancing stopped and they just tried out different poses. Hey, at least they had fun.

Crossed Eyed

Don't you hate it when someone crosses their eyes and your eyes just hurt watching them? Well, it happens quite a bit here at my house. My daughter, Kaitlyn figured out that she can cross her eyes, and thinks it is a pretty cool trick. So tonight, I'm working on math facts with Eryn, and Kaitlyn comes in to sit down and watch and starts crossing her eyes....she's bored. I watch her and then try to do it with her, which she informs me that I'm not succeeding...oh darn. She keeps doing it and I finally say "Eeewww stop, it's hurting my eyes, and if you keep doing that your eyes will stay that way", then Eryn sitting right next to me, ever so serious says "No mom, it will only stay that way if you hit her on the back while she crossing her eyes!" I had to laugh, because she was convinced that it really happens. I love it when my kids keep me laughing.

Lavatory Pass?

We have a little play room under our stairs and sometimes my two girls (ages 6 and 8)will go in there shut the door and start creating all sorts of new games, and even some new rules for our house. So on Saturday they are in there sitting at their little desk making something. They come out with about 15 Lavatory Passes. That's right- lavatory passes. Really.....lavatory?? They then begin to tell me that anytime I need to go to the bathroom, where ever I am in the house, I need to come to them to get this lavatory pass. Okay fine, I'll play along. But of course I forget..........next thing I know,(yes, I'm in the bathroom) and they are pounding on the door "Mom, you forgot your pass!" They tape the pass to the door, for when I get out, I can bring it back to them, since you know they only have 15 of them.
This rule didn't last too long in our house, they got distracted by something else, and were on to the next idea. Anyways, it was entertaining for me. It strikes me funny that obviously their teachers must call their bathroom passes- lavatory passes, surprising for a 1st and/or 3rd grade teacher. Just a little something to keep a smile on my face. :)

Baptism Day

I thought these two pictures are just priceless. Before Eryn's baptism, we gave her a new set of scriptures. Here Kyle is helping her find the scripture he was about to read. Too sweet.

Bapismal Quilt

My very talented mother-in-law makes a quilt for each of her grandchildrens baptism. Here is Eryn's, and it is beautiful. She just loves it. Thanks grandma!

Cross Country

Bryce has joined the cross country team at his school. He loves to run, but I think he perfers shorter distances, where he can run as fast as he can. Anyways he had only been on the team for two days before the first meet, and he competed against 6, 7, 8th graders from Lowell Scott, and Lake Hazel. He came in 59th place out of 80-90 kids. Great job, Bryce! It'll be exciting to see him get used to running up to 2 miles a day, and watching him improve over the season.

New Ears

Eryn has been waiting for this day for a long time. For her 8th birthday we took her into Claire's and she finally got her ears pierced! After they pierced the first ear, she said "Ooowww, they didn't hurt at all." Then they went to the second ear, and her response that time was, "Oooww that hurt freakin bad!"
