First Day of School

Here are the two girls on their way to the first day of school. Eryn is starting 3rd grade, and Kaitlyn is starting 1st. Gosh, they are growing up too fast.

Visiting Cousins............

The kids and I were able to fly out to Philadelphia to visit my brother and his family for a few days in August. It was so nice, and relaxing. I absolutely love the east coast, and it brought great memories of when we lived there for a short time. We didn't do a lot of sight seeing this trip, it was just fun for the kids to play with their cousins.

Many of you may not know this about me....but my dream is to live on a large lot, with lots of trees. Especailly trees that you can climb. This is the front of Mike's house, and this tree looked so tempting. I loved climbing trees when I was younger and this tree would have been great! Do you think we climbed any while we were there- of course not!

Here is Bryce, Garrett, Kailtyn (hiding behind Bryce's arm), and Devon riding a little coaster at Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster. It was a great little amusment park, perfect for younger kids. There was one roller coaster that was so much fun, I would actually catch air on all the dips. I think I had more fun on that one then the kids. :)

This is my brothers side yard at his house- huge! Every morning and evening you could count on seeing deer coming out from the forest behind his house, and the kids loved just sitting and watching them. Anyways, this time since there was just 3 younger deer, the kids decided to see how close they could get before the deer would run away. They started out tip toeing, and ended up with the army crawl creeping along this massive yard. They didn't get too close, but they sure had fun thinking they were being pretty sneaky. I loved this picture with Kaitlyn looking back like "What in the heck am I suppose to do here?" Too cute.

The kids spent a lot of time swimming. I really don't know why they are wearing floaties, but they did have fun seeing how many they could put on and still swim around the pool. I think the winner was Kaitlyn with three floaties around her waist, and two sets on her arms.

Our Garden

Here is our garden. It is coming in great, even with the late start we had. We are using a part of my moms garden, I never would have thought I would grow up and be grateful for her enormous garden. We've got zucchini coming out of our ears, enough peas to keep Kaitlyn happy, and the ears of corn are getting biggger. Can't wait for the watermelon and carrots to be ready. We have had a lot of fun planting our garden and seeing the "veggies" of labor.



The kids were surprised to see that this is a pumpkin and not a watermelon. I think we'll have a surplus of pumpkins- I'm sure my kids will be on the sidewalk selling some in the fall :)

Me

There hasn't been a lot going on in my life lately. I have been waiting for something fun to happen so I can share it will all of you, but my waiting goes on without success. So instead of waiting for something fun to post, I thought I would just share a few things that are going on with me.
Tomorrow I take Bryce to register for Middle School- yes, I am kind of freaking out. How do I have a child that is old enough to be in middle school? Ok, don't answer that- of course I know how. But, my, has the time flown by. Really it is sad- I'm starting a stage of my life that I really don't want and there is nothing I can do to stop it. Bryce in middle school, there is so much that he will be exposed to and I can't shelter him from certain things anymore. I just hope I have been able to prepare him enough for what is to come. Then with Kaitlyn starting first grade, she will be at school for a full day now. I know she will be fine, but I really worry about her. Of course it will be harder on me then her, I know that. I am not ready to be at home without any children here with me. No- don't drop by your kids......I want my own :) It really will be an adjustment that is for sure. I'll keep busy with helping Kyle at work two days a week, and volunteering at the school- but like I said, it's a stage I really don't want to be in right now.
Of course there are some things coming up that I am really excited about. The kids and I will be heading out to Philadelphia to visit my brother and his family next week, we haven't been back east since we lived there about 10 years ago. I am totally excited! The cousins will have a great time playing with eachother again. And then Eryn will be turning 8 years old in the next two weeks. So, yes she will getting baptized. I really am proud of her for making this decision. It will be a great day.
I know I have probably bored most of you with this post....if you even made it this far...but this is just a glimpse into me at the moment.

Reminiscing

Do you ever smell something that just takes you back to another time? Well, while I was out of town, my husband bought some perfume for me. One that I have not worn in years, very sweet, I know. Yesterday when I put it on, it just took me back to 1994- I'm in my first apartment in Provo- four roommates in a small apartment, good times! Anyways, three of us wore the same perfume so you can imagine walking in and guess what you smell...that's right......Eternity perfume. So today at times when I catch a whiff it immediately takes me back to the apartment and my roommates, esspecially cramming into the bathroom trying to get ready for classes.........good memories! I know Kyle bought it because it was the perfume I wore when we were dating......I wonder what memories it brings back for him......I'm sure I won't be posting any of those! :)

Young Reunion- Grand Targhee

Funny story...... We headed to Grand Targhee this year for our Young Family Reunion, and I'm following my parents who have the directions to the Grand Targhee Resort and Lodge, which we were staying. As we start heading up the mountain following the signs, we get about half way and pull over....my mom thinks we may have missed the turn....according to her map. So we turn around and head back down the mountain, headed into town got gas and directions. Of course, the resort is at the top of the mountain. So, again we start heading up the mountain into the forest, it's about 10 miles from the bottom to the top. Once we finally get to the top my dad goes in to check us all in and to our surprise (frustration) we are staying in the condos at the bottom of the mountain and we are to check in at the Teton Creek Condos......what???? Where did the Teton Creek Condos come from, our reservations just stated Grand Targhee Resort and Lodge... So we head back down the mountain, again, and find the Teton Creek Condos, after about 10 minutes there trying to figure out where to go once we get there (of course no one is in the office, they close at 5) We finally find the lock box and get our information. This is how they read............Staying at Shadowbrook Condos, 2 miles away (great more driving). Turn left on to Ski Hill Rd. On your right there will be a bank of condos, trees will be in front covering them. Turn on to Powder Run Rd, the sign is not visible, turn right after you pass Bear Lane. Excuse me??? condos hidden? why even put them in the directions, and then turn onto Powder Run, but sign not visible??? (prune the trees!!!) After all the driving up and down the mountain, and no one around to help us, those directions just made me laugh. I don't think my dad appreciated the humor I found in all of it. I guess you really had to be there .......great way to start off the reunion...I was happy to know that some of my uncles had the same problem, so it wasn't just us (doesn't that always make you feel better??)
