Kaitlyn's Baptism

My youngest got babptized! What a happy and sad day! I am so glad she decided to get baptized and it was great having my family there to celebrate this special occasion. But sad also, because my kids are growing up too fast. Kaitlyn is my youngest and she's 8! Next thing I know I'll be posting about Bryce graduating from high school.....by the way I've been blogging, that actually sounds about right! Sad I know.

Family

My entire family got together during spring break....with my brother living in PA, this only happens once a year or so. We celebrated Easter a week early since we were all together and had out annual easter egg hunt and dinner. Good times!! I really could sit around all night laughing at old memories, playing games, and listening to the kids in the basement laughing and playing together. I love my family!!

2009 Gingerbread Houses

Every year, my family gets together and we decorate gingerbread houses. My mom bakes up the gingerbread molds and gets it all put together. Then my siblings and I come over with our families and spend the afternoon decorating. The kids have a great time, and it's a wonderful tradition we look forward to all year.

Bryce's House....I think his most simplest one yet. He used all the candy he knew he would eventually eat off of it! Good thinkin' Bryce! :)



Eryn's House....simple and cute. Usually I help her out every year, but this year she wanted to do it all alone, looks great Eryn!



Kaitlyn's House....Your guess is as good as mine as to what is coming out of each side of her house. It looks like a gigantic catapiller eating it's way through! She loves it and so do we!! :)




I think this years turned out great! I had some great pics of everyone else's....way cute and so creative....but they are on my iphone, and I can't figure out how to sync it up to Kyle's MAC to download. Sorry Steph, Kyle, Andrea, & Greg.....I'll try to post those pics soon.

First Day of School

Well sadly I didn't get any pics of Bryce on his first day of 7th grade!! I know, bad mother! Anyways, I thought I would get one of him after he got home, but then forgot.....I always have good intentions, which really is what counts in my eyes :)
I did manage to get one of the girls at the school as I was dropping them off. I had to laugh, as soon as Eryn saw her friends, she really didn't want anything to do with me or a picture. As you can tell, she was not into it. On the other hand....look at Kaitlyn's. She is beaming and loving that her pic is getting taken. I figure I'll only have one more year before she's not into it either.



I think that it's cute, that even at 9 and 7 years old, they love to dress alike. It's like I have twins!

Eryn had a swimming party for her birthday. I am so disappointed that I didn't have my camera with me at the pool. Her and her friends were having so much fun and were jumping in holding hands and doing tricks. Take my word for it....it was way cute!

I love the Sound Of Music. Whenever it's on TV, we always sit down as a family and watch it, sing along, and continue singing the songs throughout the following days. I was sent this email of this video on youtube and loved it! I wish I were there to join in.

Oh The Things Children Say.....

So my girls are sharing a bed at the moment, something new for them, and Kaitlyn was getting a little irritated that Eryn was laying on her side facing her and that she was a little too close. Eryn gets all defensive and says "I can't help it, I was born this way!" I start laughing and ask her what she means by that, and she says "I was born laying like this. I have so many baby pictures of me laying on my side! I can't help it!"
It really was a cute funny moment.

Annoyed!

This last week a lady came to my door wanting me to register to win a $10,000 gift card to Home Depot. This is how our conversation went-

Lady- Hi, we will be doing a drawing for a $10,000 gift card to Home Depot. What is your name so I can get you registered.

Me- Well wait a minute.....where is this registration going to end up? Am I going to be getting calls from other solicitors...will you be selling my number to other call lists? What exactly is the catch here?

Lady- Oh, no Miss. The only way you would get a call is if your card is drawn. We will not be selling or giving your information to anyone else. There is not catch, we are just holding a drawing and want to get you registered to win.

Me- OK, fine. I give her my name and phone number.

I'm thinking what the heck, we'll see what happens........
Fast forward to yesterday. Phone rings and here is the next conversation-

Man- Jody, this last week someone came to door and registered you in a drawing for a gift card to Home Depot.

Me- Yes, that's right.

Man- Well you didn't win the Home Depot gift card but I'm happy to tell you that you won a $100.00 gas card. We would like to set up a time to deliver this to you. Will you be home Monday or Tuesday?

Me- I'll be home Monday afternoon.

Man- Will you and your husband be there with you?

Me- No. (thinking...I've heard that line before! It's either Rainbow or Kirby wanted to do a demo! And if so...I'm ticked! Or someone is setting up a time to come and either kidnap or rape me in my own home!)

Man- Can we set up a time when you will both be there?

Me- Why does my husband have to be here for you to give me a gas card?

Man- Well, all we ask is that you invite this person in and let them do a demonstration for the Rainbow vacuum. No pressure and after the demo you can get the $100.00 gas card.

Me- Ok- wait a minute here- I specifically asked the lady if I would be getting phone calls wanting to sell something. I asked her what the catch was. And she flat out told me no, no catch. Only a call if you win. (Ok- I won, but there's a catch)

Man- I'm sorry for the miscommunication.

Me- Oh, there was NO miscommunication- she flat out lied to me! And I am so frustrated that you are calling me about this. I've had rainbow demo before- great vacuum, but too expensive for us, and yes there was pressure! You guys are being very deceiving, and I'm not happy about it. Goodbye!

I was so annoyed, my heart was racing. I normally not a confrontational person at all, until I get calls like this...then I'm a feisty little thing. Yes, this is me being feisty....

A Chef in the Making?

Eryn is learning cook, I've taught her a few things to make. A couple of weeks ago she brought home a childrens cook book from the library, and this was the first recipe she made from it. It was delicious, and pretty!

I Like Big Butts and I Can Not Lie

Here are our big butts! The kids love it when I make these Butt Rolls. Although today I let them raise a little too long, and they were HUGE. As I pulled them out of the oven I couldn't resist breaking out in song- which the kids tried to sing along (bad move on my end). Thank goodness they didn't get past the first line!
They were still as delicious as always. We like big butts!

Conversation

Kyle: Kids mom and I are going out for a while, you get to eat dinner without us tonight.

Eryn: You mean we're eating alone? Yea! No Prayer!

I'm Back!

For the last week, we have been without the internet. I know, how could we have gone that long without this necessity? I really don't know how we survived, according to our kids this was to most boring place EVER! We had cableone....you could not believe all the problems we had between 4 different cable boxes...they could never figure out the problems, so we decided to get rid of it. We should have thought through things before we had it disconnected, because going with Qwest was going to take forever (5 days) before our internet would be up and running. Finally here we are a week later and I'm feeling like I'm finally connnected to the world again.
So here I am blogging again, I just wish I had something fun to blog about :(

Happy New Year!!!

This New Years Eve we stayed home as a family and had a wonderful time. We set up a table in the family room and watched the Disney Channel Countdown (Oh Joy!). I made my families tradition of Pizza Fondue, chips with assorted dips, bacon-wrapped lil smokies, boiled cookies, sparkling white grape juice, and some other things that I can't recall now 5 days later. We ate, cleaned up, played games and let the kids stay up til midnight! I know we're crazy! They were excited to stay up like grown-ups......All I can say is Thank Goodness for naps :)

Bryce was perfectly content getting his "Russian hat" and a book he's been hoping to get. He would have been happy with just these two gifts...too bad we didn't know that before the shopping.


Eryn really enjoyed testing out her Cupcake Maker right off the bat! Umm Umm Good!


Kaitlyn was thrilled with her Hair Extension Kit......just what she wanted!!

We had a nice Christmas at home, and of course spent time at my parents home, playing in the snow, playing card games and eating. Always good times!!

Funny Story....

Bryce is a Deacon now, and has been called to be the Deacon Secretary. He's pretty proud of this calling. (He likes feeling important) Anyways I was talking with the Deacons Presidents mother, and she was telling me how her son decided to pick Bryce. I guess when he was called- he knew immediately that he wanted Bryce for his secretary because he noticed in class that Bryce was taking notes. When she told me this, I was thinking....that really surprises me- I hadn't taken Bryce for the note taking kind of boy......as his mom, I'm impressed! So, later that day when I picked up Bryce from school I proceeded to tell him about the note taking. Bryce sat there and listened, thought about it, and then started laughing......and says "I was drawing!" He was drawing Nephi cutting off Laban's head. Nice Bryce, nice.
